Verfallensheit
Thursday, February 8th, 2007Verfallensheit is a German term used by the famous Heidegger to indicate his concept of a fallen being. A man in verfallensheit is in the state of forgetfulness of his true and authentic being. He is being alienated in his own space like a ghost that you can see through. He has been sleeping on his own grease playing with sloth. He has ceased to be his old ubermensch. He becomes nobody.
But why does his day have to end?
Is it because he has reached his optimum? As a lady professor once said, one can’t be in the climax of an orgasm all the time unless that person wants to die in an instant. Moreover, she said that the reason why one has to go down is for one to go up once again. Elton John sang; it is the circle of life.
Is because of the season change? Perhaps, one cannot help but to live in a space where he can’t claim exclusivity unless such person is autistic. As Aristotle said, man is condemned to live in a society. And with this answer supports the theory that man is constant in himself and reality is a mere mixture of him and the earth where he stands. As of me, I really hate to see ugly people around!
Or the question just sucks. An exemption will never disprove a general rule, indeed.
